Suisun Valley Filling Station
I’m a fifth-generation Suisun Valley native, born and raised in the region. In 2018, when the vintage gas station at Manka's Corner became available, I saw the potential to create the perfect tasting room for small, local, family-run wineries and breweries. With the encouragement of my family and friends, I founded The Suisun Valley Filling Station, which has since become a beloved gathering spot for locals and a hidden gem for tourists.
Farmer's Closet
As sisters born and raised in Suisun Valley, we are now raising the fourth generation and honoring our late parents through our boutique. Our store reflects our deep local roots, offering a carefully curated selection of clothing, gifts, and gourmet pantry items. We treat each customer like family and remain loyal to our local values.
Wild Oak Wellness
We created Wild Oak Wellness (WOW) to be more than just a studio. Our vision was to build a nurturing community rooted in kindness, authenticity, and encouragement. At WOW, you’ll find a space where you are seen, supported, and celebrated…a place to come as you are, discover what you need, and leave with a deeper sense of calm, clarity, and connection. Both valley residents, Dorene brings her background in nursing, teaching yoga locally since 2010, and teaching nursing at Solano College since 2005, and I bring my experience in business, sports, health, and wellness. Together, we’ve created a program that we hope feels truly special for you.
Mankas Grill
We’re brothers Kyle and Jason Barraza, and in 2020 we had the opportunity to bring new life to a historic space at Mankas Corner in Suisun Valley. This corner has been a gathering place for travelers and locals since the mid-1800s, when Christly Manka recognized its importance along the stagecoach route between Benicia, Suisun City, and Berryessa Valley. Inspired by the history and community that have shaped this corner for more than a century and a half, we created Mankas Grill as a welcoming place to share great food, conversation, and time together. Today we’re proud to serve fresh takes on classic favorites while continuing the tradition of bringing people together at Mankas Corner.
Vezér Family Vineyard- Blue Victorian Winery
Our family’s winemaking journey began in 2001, when we set out to create wines that reflected both our passion for the craft and the character of Suisun Valley. Inspired by decades of travel and wine experiences, we poured our heart and soul into producing wines that we loved and hoped others would enjoy just as much. The traditions we follow trace back to 1938, when Frank’s father first passed down the principles of balancing patience, craftsmanship, and respect for the land. Today, at the Blue Victorian Winery, we invite guests to relax, share a glass, and experience the wines that have become part of our family’s story here in Suisun Valley.

Historical Timeline
The Suisun Valley, rich in natural beauty and resources, was home to the Patwin tribe, known for their deep connection to the land.
A vast expanse of 18,000 acres, known as Suisun Rancho, was granted to Sam Yeto (Francisco Solano), Chief Solano of the Patwin tribe, by Mexican Governor Juan Alvarado. The grant reflected his relationship with General Mariano Vallejo and marked the area’s early colonial history.
Following the Mexican–American War, gold prospectors flooded California. Many eventually settled in Suisun Valley, introducing new agricultural practices to the fertile land.
The site that would become Manka’s Corner is owned by John W. Barton, operating a store and tavern at a key transportation junction.
Former gold miner Christley Manka purchased an interest in a store, tavern, and schoolhouse—then known as Barton’s Store—located along the Benicia to Suisun City stagecoach route and connected to the agricultural road between Suisun and Berryessa Valley. This acquisition marked the true beginning of what would become Manka’s Corner.
Christley Manka buys out Barton’s remaining ownership. The stagecoach stop and business hub formally become known as Manka’s Corner, and becomes a permanent regional landmark.
Manka’s Corner emerged as a major Northern California crossroads and community hub, with daily stagecoach traffic passing through, large wheat wagon trains traveling from Berryessa Valley to the port of Suisun City, and routes connecting San Francisco to the Sulphur Bank mercury mines. As activity increased, the site expanded to include a general store and tavern, post office, blacksmith shop, and Masonic Hall.
Manka’s Corner continued to serve as a regional waypoint and service hub, supporting agricultural production—including wheat, barley, and other row crops—while facilitating trade routes throughout Solano and Napa counties. It remained an active part of broader travel and transportation networks, maintaining its identity as a central crossroads and gathering place for the surrounding community.
With the decline of stagecoach travel and changes in transportation, Manka’s Corner transitions from a transport hub to a localized rural community center, still tied to agriculture and regional movement. Post-war expansion led to a boom in fruit and vegetable farming, establishing the valley as an important agricultural region in California.
Vineyards began replacing traditional row crops such as plums and pears as the region gained recognition for high-quality wine grapes.
Suisun Valley was officially designated an American Viticultural Area (AVA), recognizing its unique terroir and elevating its status in wine production.
A revival in viticulture and organic farming occurred, with increased emphasis on sustainable, family-owned vineyards and wineries.
Manka’s Corner began transitioning from a quiet rural intersection into a wine-focused destination as Suisun Valley’s viticulture expanded. During this time, Vezer Family Vineyard established a presence near Manka’s Corner.
The historic gas station at Manka’s Corner is reimagined as the Suisun Valley Filling Station, becoming a modern gathering place for local wineries, breweries, and visitors.
One of the historic buildings at the corner is transformed into Manka’s Grill, continuing the tradition of food, hospitality, and community gathering at the site.
Mark Hall and Tamara Gerlach acquire a key portion of the corner (Filling Station side), beginning a new phase of ownership and long-term vision for the site.
Additional surrounding properties have been acquired, consolidating approximately 16 acres around Manka’s Corner and advancing a broader vision now known as Manka’s Meadow. The goal is to preserve the historic character of the crossroads while thoughtfully evolving it into a modern agri-tourism destination. Today, Manka’s Corner continues its 170+ year legacy as a gathering place, a crossroads, and a central focal point of community in Suisun Valley.
